Welcome to my latest Interior Design Blog on creating Autumn Inspired Interiors for your your home.
For me, Autumn is the beautiful busy season that follows the warmth and fun of the summer. So much happens in Autumn to get ready for winter, and you only have to look to nature outside your window to realise this.
For me it's about bright blue skies, colours on the trees before the leaves fall to to the ground, and then they crunch under foot. Gathering conkers - the bright brown and red peeping out of the green spiky shells and wrapping up warm to watch fireworks and toast marshmallows on the fire.
Finally it's time time to light the log burner and put some cosy socks on and a soft blanket while you snuggle down with a good book or your favourite recent series or box set with a hot chocolate or maybe a hot chocolate or mulled cider?
Autumn is a colour explosion but in a cosy, warm, rich and earthy way. A slight pop of bright colours can be found in the red of berries on trees or holly, and the red and white toadstools that appear in forests and undergrowth. Generally the colour palette is more vibrant but still very natural in its own way. It certainly isn't boring.
Autumn Inspiration from Nature

I've collated some images from Pinterest below which for me depict an Autumn Interior.
These reflect the calm and cosy space they are in, but can still have whites and creams, not everything has to always be dark or bright. It's good to have some balance across an interior with Autumnal colours as they can be quite strong. A cream wall or bed linen, neutral sofas or rugs can help balance a room and not make it feel too overwhelming.

This connection to nature in this season can be reflected in our homes, which means that Autumn lovers like to use rustic and tactile materials in their homes.
Materials like wood, leather, wicker, stone, linen, wool and hammered metal gives the softness and interest in these spaces. Autumn is a great season for a child's room as this connection to nature is often what children are drawn to. That essence of exploring, gathering, adventure and fun splashing in puddles and getting muddy is a really good way to transition into a child's room, nursery or playroom.
Autumn lovers also love up cycling and repurposing to give that bespoke feel to their things. They hate to waste and don't always buy new but skilfully mix and match them both to give a really unique feel to the spaces they create.
