Summer is well and truly here, and with record breaking temperatures around the UK recently, we all want to stay cool and calm. Well, welcome to summer interiors style inspiration. Here I'm going to guide you though how to make your home reflective of a summer interior. That means taking inspiration from the hazy summer English days, where roses are in abundance and colours are muted, soft and delicate.
Let's take a closer look...

So when I say summer interiors, let's be clear that I'm not envisaging tropical palm holidays in Florida, I'm thinking English Rivera by a gentle and relaxed river, maybe close to corn fields that rustle in the cool breeze.
Think a cold glass of rosé or Pimms and lemonade, striped jackets and straw boaters. Roses in full bloom in the garden and the delicate shade of the late summer sun. Summer is a time to take it slowly, sit back and relax and enjoy all the hard vibrant work that went into spring, come to fruition.
Summer interiors are graceful, elegant and serene as well as relaxed and uncomplicated. Think pale shades of colour such as light grey, soft lilac, pale green and a dusky rose.
Summer is all about the peonies, wisteria, roses and hydrangeas and all of the associated colours and textures that are prominent in this time of the year.
Summer interiors are well organised, and no clutter. Items that are on display are thoughtfully chosen and curated as beautiful objects that reflect their owners personality. Summer interiors love symmetry and order, which brings a calm balance. These are not about brash and loud colours and fabrics, but soft, delicate and long lasting.
Summer personalities that reflect their interiors are ones that love hosting, and arrange a beautifully laid table, with handwritten place name cards and a carefully determined seating plan. Summer personalities have an eye for detail, with lace napkins, and romantic jam jars of cut flowers from the garden tied with string or offcuts of ribbon.
Here is an example of a summer interior inspiration board that I have put together to illustrate the look and feel that summer evokes.

Summer interiors are centred around soft muted tones, natural fabrics and delicate prints and stripes. It's a timeless and understated look, that is elegant and calming. Think weathered finishes and antique pieces and a faded glamour that brings artistic touches to the room.
Here are some more examples of how a summer interior can look. I'll leave these with you to give you some inspiration and start putting together your own summer interior. Of course if you need some help, ideas and guidance then get in touch and I can help.
